This 2022 could be a great opportunity to visit Toledo
One of the many wonders of our route network is Toledo. A World Heritage City, it has so much to offer that it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to visit a unique city.
Toledo is a unique city whichever way you look at it.
If you enter through the Puerta Nueva de la Bisagra gate, you will begin a journey through time that will take you through different periods in Spain’s history. A journey, an atmosphere, streets to walk through, thousands of lives to live and a single city as a backdrop.
You can’t miss the Cathedral of Santa María, the Primate Cathedral of Spain, in Gothic style adapted to the Spanish style, with five naves and a single tower, also Gothic but with some Mudejar features, which rises to a height of 92 metres.
Nor to enjoy its Alcázar, whose history dates back to the 3rd century, and which throughout history has been from a Roman palace to a besieged square during the Spanish Civil War. It is currently home to the Army Museum.
You can’t leave Toledo without taking a stroll around the Plaza de Zocodover, the epicentre of the city’s activity over the centuries, or the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the heart of the city’s historic quarter.
And after these strolls, head to any of the viewpoints overlooking the Tagus River, which meanders around the city. It’s a great way to get the soul of Toledo in your mind’s eye.
If you haven’t had enough of these explanations, we invite you to enjoy this video, which is the best possible summary we can give you of Toledo.
