Here you can learn all about a disease like malaria
The Malaria Interpretation Centre, located in Losar de la Vera (Cáceres) allows you to learn all about a disease like malaria. Although it has been eradicated in our country, it still causes the death of hundreds of thousands of people all over the world.

The Malaria Interpretation Centre is a former malaria treatment clinic located in Losar de la Vera. Why is it there?
Two reasons:
La Vera was, until the middle of the last century, one of the areas where the disease was most prevalent, as it is a place where crops were – and still are – grown that require a large supply of water, which is abundant in the area. By way of information, the last case of malaria in La Vera dates back to 1961, in the municipality of Rosalejo.

On 21 September 1558, not far from Losar de la Vera, in the Monastery of Cuacos de Yuste, Emperor Charles V died. He was bitten by a mosquito. In fact, one of the rooms in the centre is entirely dedicated to the emperor.

An instructive visit that you should not miss 😊.
