Here are some tips to help you enjoy a unique day out with the family
On Saturday 4 February, the 24th Emperor’s Route will be held, commemorating the transfer of Emperor Charles V from his temporary retreat in Jarandilla de la Vera to the Monastery of Yuste.
The 24th Emperor’s Route, an event that attracts thousands of people every year, is getting closer and closer. Whole families, hikers, nature and history lovers… Everyone has an appointment with this event, declared a Festival of Regional Tourist Interest.

Now, what do you need to enjoy a unique day? First of all, the desire. In each of the villages along the route (Jarandilla de la Vera, Aldeanueva de la Vera and Cuacos de Yuste) you’ll find all kinds of attractions and elements that will make the day – or the weekend if you wish – a memory that will last a long time.
Secondly, comfortable shoes. The route follows the original path used by the emperor to go from Jarandilla de la Vera to Yuste. That is why you will find times when the route is more winding or steeper. That’s why you should wear comfortable walking shoes.

Third: let yourself be carried away. La Vera is always a marvellous place, but on a day like this, with sunshine, the views of the Sierra de Gredos are spectacular. And if it is snowy, so much the better!
Fourth: enjoy the historical re-enactment that will take place throughout the day, starting at the castle of the Counts of Oropesa (now the Parador Nacional) and ending at the Monastery of Yuste. More than one hundred and fifty people in period costume will take part in an event that attracts more and more visitors every year.

So now you know: we look forward to seeing you in Jarandilla de la Vera on Saturday 4th February from 9:30 a.m. See you there!
